The grieving family of 16-month-old Star Hobson slammed prison medics for saving the life of child murderer Savannah Brockhill, 28, after she suffered cardiac arrests in prison.
Brockhill was sentenced to life behind bars after she was found guilty of killing the toddler at her home in West Yorkshire last June.
While on remand, the self-proclaimed ‘psycho’ collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest at HMP Styal in Cheshire.
Prison medics revived Brockhill twice but Star’s grieving great-grandfather, Frank Smith, told The Sun that he wished medics would’ve let the killer die instead.
“I wish they had let her die. Star’s injuries were so horrific they couldn’t revive her,” he said.
“And yet, Brockhill is saved. How unfair is that?”
Star’s mother, 20-year-old Frankie Smith, was also sentenced to eight years in jail for letting the murder happen.
An MP said she thinks the sentence was ‘not enough’ and too lenient, suggesting Smith’s term could be extended.
Health minister Gillian Keegan also said that the sentence ‘does not sound enough.’
Star’s grieving dad, Jordan Hobson, said that he will never recover from the cruel and callous way his daughter was killed.
In an emotional tribute released through police, Mr. Hobson said: “The horrific death of my beautiful baby daughter has left me devastated and I will never recover from the callous and cruel way in which Star was taken from me.
“No sentence that a court can impose will ever bring back my precious daughter.
“I would now request privacy so that I can start to grieve and begin to try and pick up the pieces of my life.”
