John Travolta, Billy Baldwin, Kim Cattrall, and Sharon Stone were among the celebrities to pay tribute to Treat Williams after the news of his death.
The 71-year-old tragically died after an SUV that was turning did not see the actor’s motorcycle in Vermont. He was airlifted to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Hs agent, Barry McPherson, said: “He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right (and) a car cut him off. I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.”
McPherson continued: He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of the Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”
Travolta, 69, wrote on Instagram that Williams would be ‘missed’ as he shared a photo of them together. “Treat Williams and I got our start NYC appearing in 2 Broadway shows, “Grease” and “Over Here”.
“I’m so sorry Treat. My thoughts are with you and your family. You will be missed. Love, John.”
Backdraft star Baldwin, 60, took to Twitter and praised Williams as ‘compassionate’ and ‘smart’ with a heart of gold.’
“He had it all. Smart. Talented. Funny. Charming. Successful. Handsome. Compassionate. Heart of gold. And that name… Treat Williams.”
“He truly and deeply cared about what’s going on here in America and around the world.
“Climate change, social justice, freedom, truth, tolerance… love. Beloved by his family, friends, fans, colleagues… his community. A terrible loss. You will be missed. Rest in power Treat.”
Stone, 65, wrote: “Sad news rest in peace brother.”
Cattrall posted a photo from their 1999 TV film 36 Hours to Die and said: “I’m in shock! RIP Dear Treat. My condolences to Pam, Gilles, Ellie and the family. A wonderful actor and friend.”
Williams was reportedly hit by Honda driver Ryan Koss, 35, who signaled left into a parking lot and slammed into the actor’s motorcycle around 4:30 pm in Dorset on Monday.
According to Vermont State Police, no arrests have been made and an investigation is still ongoing.
