Four people were left severely injured after a man armed with a knife stormed a Los Angeles hospital.
The incident took place at the Encino Hospital Medical Center where a man armed with a knife stabbed four people before barricading himself in one of the rooms at the hospital.
According to the hospital’s representative, the attacker was arrested at around 5 pm local time.
It has since also come to light that two of the assailant’s victims were nurses. One of the victims was a doctor working at the hospital.
In shocking photos by ABC7 Los Angeles, one victim could be seen getting rushed out of the hospital before being loaded into an ambulance.
As the authorities confirmed, the stabbing spree started in the proximity of the emergency room at around 3.50 pm.
Shortly after, the hospital was placed on lockdown, whereas visitors were not allowed to enter the building and new patients were no longer being admitted.
While the knifeman remained barricaded inside one of the rooms, the LAPD reached out to SWAT teams. It remains unclear, however, if SWAT teams were deployed and if they participated in apprehending the attacker.
It is believed that all four victims of the stabbing were taken to Northridge Hospital after the attack.
While their identities are yet to be confirmed, one witness claimed three of the victims were medical professionals working at the hospital.
As of this writing, three victims remain in a critical condition.
