A professor at the University of Southern Maine in Portland is feeling the pressure from her own students who want her fired for making controversial remarks.

According to reports from local media outlets, a group of students was recently seen uniting and calling for the professor’s exit from the institution for failing to consider minorities and those belonging to the transgender community.

The professor named Christy Hammer is known for teaching education on the campus but she came into the line of fire during a heated debate that was linked to the subject of gender identity.

She called the class one that was supposed to be about creating a positive learning environment but little did she know that telling her students that only two genders exist would land her in hot water.

Out of hundreds of students, just one happened to agree with the educator and that led to a massive uproar on campus with immediate calls for her termination.

The rest of the students were seen debating how both biological s*xes and social genders appeared to be on a spectrum.

On the other hand, a few others that happened to be attending the class were seen giving interviews about how this happened to be the second time that the teacher stated the same time. And that was enough to ignite anger and fury among the students.

The first time she mentioned the comments were in September and now seeing her repeat the controversial stance blew so many people’s minds.

The protests against the teacher appear to be led by one binary student who says she was personally attacked by such comments and couldn’t believe the audacity of a professor educator to stoop down to such lows.
