Singer Sinead O’Connor’s teenage son has reportedly died after he was reported to authorities as ‘missing’.
The heartbreaking news was recently announced via an emotional post on Twitter by the 55-year-old Irish singer herself.
The singer also took this time to pay tribute to her ‘lovely son’ whose name was Shane. He was just 17 years old.
In addition to his picture, the singer put up a caption that went on to mention, “ended his earthly struggle.”
Local media outlets claim that the news came at a time when Shane’s mother launched an urgent appeal for her missing son, who she claims was last seen on Friday in South Dublin.
The police force mentioned on Saturday how the search for the missing teenage boy had been ‘stood down.’
Sinead shared her son with her former partner, folk singer Donal Lunny, which she revealed while reporting the news. The heartbroken singer was lost for words as she explained to her fans how her son chose to end his own life.
“My beautiful son was the very light of my life. He decided to end his struggle on this earth today and is now gone away. May he rest in peace and may no one ever follow his example. My baby, you have no idea how much I love you so much. Please be at peace,” the singer wrote in her post.
Shane was one of the star’s four children. She also dedicated a famous Bob Marley song to him, describing how he was her ‘blue-eye baby’ and the light of her life.
The sentimental post that Sinead penned down for her beloved son was shared by countless fans of the singer who also expressed their condolences on the tragic incident.
