Heartbroken parents have paid tribute to their “perfect son” after the boy died suddenly just days before Christmas.
18-year-old Morgan Smith was traveling through Coedely, Wales, in a car together with four friends when the group got into a horror head-on crash involving a bus.
In the collision, Smith, along with friends Callum Griffith, 19, and Jesse Owen, 18, was killed instantly. Two of their friends are currently still fighting for their lives in the hospital.
Following the tragic news, Morgan’s parents broke the silence as they wished for their “baby boy” to be returned to them.
“Miss you so much already. Don’t know how I’ll live life without you. Literally broken,” his father, Daniel Chalfont, said. The grieving dad went on to say that Morgan was “literally the most perfect son you could ever wish for.”
Breaking her silence was also the teen’s mom, Laura, who recalled her final ‘I love you’ to her son just hours before the accident claimed his life.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Dan Owen-Jones revealed he was one of the first people on the scene of the accident.
“At times I was numb and helpless to the grieving families. I cannot even describe the pain, shock and suffering I have witnessed tonight. Horrific,” he said.
“It’s a distressing time for all. At this time of year it’s even worse.
“Later on there was lots and lots of family and friends. It was very distressing to see the family, but understandable – if it was one of my family I would have wanted to be there.”
Local councilor Danny Grehan went on to say that the accident hit the community very hard and that its shockwave was felt throughout the town.
