Some images manage to touch your heart in more ways than one and this touching tribute by two toddlers at a slain NYPD detective’s funeral might be one of them.
Hundreds gathered in Manhattan to attend the funeral for NYPD detective Wilbert Mora who was reportedly killed recently.
But what really caught so many people’s attention was the heartwarming tribute paid by two toddlers on wheels as they were recently pictured paying their final respects for the fallen officer.
The renowned detective passed away after he suffered gunshot wounds while attending a 911 emergency call. The incident that took place last month also tragically resulted in the death of his partner and fellow detective Jason Rivera, who perished in this same manner.
Detective Mora’s family emigrated to America from their home country of the Dominican Republic when he was just 7 years in age. Now, years later, he is being buried in mid-town Manhattan has so many citizens gathered to pay their tribute including these two toddlers during the afternoon hours of Wednesday in Queens.
Meanwhile, Detective Jason Rivera’s funeral took place last week on January 28.
Both Rivera and Mora were shot to death while they responded to a call made with the complaints of domestic violence.
While River tragically passed away on the 22nd of January, Mora passed away just three days later as revealed by the NYPD Chief Harry Wedin.
Other than citizens, there were more than a thousand police officers in uniform who gathered to pay their final respects to the officer, creating a giant sea of blue right outside the St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the funeral.
So many could be seen wiping tears while paying respects as they wanted to let the family know in their own unique way how so many others were thinking of him and grieving with them during this tragic time.
