Sinead O’Connor’s body has been released to her relatives after a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer was found unresponsive at her home in London only months after his son passed away.
According to the Irish Times, the clerk of London Inner South Coroner’s Court has confirmed that an ‘autopsy was conducted to secure a medical cause of death.’
The news outlet also reported that the result of post-mortem examination may not be available ‘for some weeks,’ adding that the conclusion will be publicly disclosed.
The heartbreaking news of O’Connor’s passing sparked tributes from stars and fans from all over the globe.

Scottish singer Annie Lennox described O’Connor as ‘bold and beautiful’ and a ‘truth teller.’
The Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof said during a festival in Ireland that O’Connor had sent him text messages weeks before her passing.
He revealed that the texts were ‘laden with desperation, despair and sorrow.’
“She meant a lot to everybody, she meant a lot to us. Her voice represented her soul and spirit. And whenever we hear that, we will always be with a great woman,” he said.
O’Connor’s neighbors have also spoken out and said that the singer had been struggling after the death of her son Shane.
In her final video post on Twitter, she told her fans that she was planning a tour in the UK, Ireland, and Australasia.
Hundreds of people gathered at the London Irish Center to celebrate O’Connor’s life and music. In Dublin, people assembled outside the Wall of Fame to pay tribute to the ‘beautiful soul.’
