A young teenager was left with the heartbreaking decision to walk an entire mile in absolute darkness after his own parents left him alone on the side of a highway.
The police claim they found the child wandering around and when asked what happened, he revealed the devastating details of his parents and how he was in a helpless situation.
The 17-year-old was abandoned on the M11 on the side of the highway in Cambridgeshire right before he managed to get assistance, his family explained.
The officer who found the young teen wandering around says he was appalled at the details coming forward. It just did not make sense why or how someone would end up doing such a thing to their own son.
“Imagine being left by your parents on the side of the road near a city that you’ve never been to before. It’s just mind-boggling and bizarre how any parent would do something like that to their child”- the officer continued.
He also emphasized how the hours were so late and it was pitch black. “It was the darkest stretch of the motorway. We really had to call for SOS emergency to help us out and make sure he got back to a safe area”- the officer concluded.
Reports from local media outlets claim the child was not a local of the area and had zero links in this region. But he needed help immediately and that’s why the officers chose to do just that.
For now, the child is being taken care of by the Child Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding Unit. They hope to give him all the love and support he needs during this difficult time.
“He has been informed that he can stay here as long as he likes. This is a sensitive case and while we proceed with the investigations and try to contact his loved ones, he will be treated in the best of health and care”- the spokesperson for the police department mentioned.
