Comedian Chris Rock is receiving praise for standing up for Will Smith as fans called out the actor for slapping the comedian during last week’s live Oscars broadcast.
Rock is currently in Boston for a series of stand-up shows but last night, the crowd went wild and began using foul language against the actor. “F**k you Will Smith”- were some of the responses of the fans but the comedian was quick to step in and mention quickly, “No, No, and No!”
But that didn’t happen on one occasion. It occurred several times and each time the crowd chanted a line against the actor, Rock was sure to defend his colleague.
Many hoped the comedian would shed light on the slap fiasco that occurred at the live Oscars broadcast. But he was only heard mentioning how he was still trying to process what had happened.
Chris Rock’s comments on Wednesday were the first time ever that the comedian spoke out in public regarding the slap that rocked the world.
It was reportedly filmed exclusively and has now been making the viral rounds on social media.
Despite so many people’s comments and criticism regarding the incident, Chris Rock seemed relatively unbothered and tried to downplay all the backlash surrounding what went on that night.
Instead, he tried to focus on new content for his lineup, whose tickets were reported to have been sold out completely.
One attendee who bought tickets for the show stated how the comedian tried to downplay the incident. “He just shook it off completely and refused to talk about it”- the ticket holder added.
One attendee was also reportedly removed from the show for using foul language and uncalled-for comments. When she was being escorted, she continued to yell how she was innocent and didn’t deserve to be booted out as security tried to remove her from the audience.
