A mother who went to visit his son’s grave at a Texas cemetery was shot and killed.
Yolanda N’Gaojia, 52, was visiting her son Amir’s gravesite at the Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen when the shooting happened at about 5 pm on Tuesday. Killeen is about 70 miles north of Austin, Texas.
Kineh N’Gaojia, Yolanda’s ex-husband, confirmed the woman who was fatally shot was his former partner. A second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Kineh wrote on Facebook: “I have no words because I can’t believe this is real. This is stuff you see (in) movies but it has become our life. I can’t believe you are gone … how y’all gonna kill her on her Son birthday at his gravesite???”

Amir Tajai-Kineh N’Gaojia was born March 22, 2000, and died in a shooting on New Year’s Day 2022, when he was 21 years old.point 104 | KWTX reported that he was one of three children Yolanda and Kineh had together.point 170 | 1
Kineh wrote in another Facebook post: “My children will never be the same again. Those bullets took a precious gem from us but gave us an Amazing Angel to guide us so you know we ain’t going nowhere but up cause we know how hard you rode for your family.”
“Thank you for making our life complete we gonna miss you, Soldier. WE LOVE YOU. Kiss Amir for me and tell him how much I/we love and miss him,” he added.
In a news release, the Killeen Police Department (KPD) confirmed officers were called to the 13000 block of State Highway 195 at about 5 pm March 22 following a shooting.
Police said that the responding officer found two gunshot victims. One victim had “non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released at the scene,” but the other died of her injuries and was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 6:56 pm.
They also said that an autopsy will be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas and added that Yolanda’s killing was the ninth murder in the city.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, a database that collects information about shootings from across the U.S., more than 418 people in Texas had been shot dead since January 1, this year.
In November, a mother was shot dead near the memorial for her teenage son who was himself fatally gunned down. Delisa Tucker had planned to visit her son Kevin Tinker’s memorial when she was shot dead in the Roseland area of Chicago.
According to Fox 32, she was shot in the chest and died on the sidewalk, close to the memorial, and was later found by officers. The Gun Violence Archive found that 104 people aged 18 and under were fatally gunned down in Chicago between January 1 to November 24, 2021.
