Shannen Doherty said she’s not ready to die after her cancer had spread to her bones.
The 52-year-old actress revealed in a tear-jerking statement that her eight-year health battle has taken a turn for the worse as her breast cancer has spread to her bones.
Speaking out in a story published by People, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star said her disease is progressing and is already classed as stage four cancer.
Despite the grim news, Shannen vowed not to give up because she was not ready to die yet.
“I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not done,” she said.
Doherty also shared her hopes for the future as she revealed she hopes to continue her acting career now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over.
“People just assume that it means you can’t walk, you can’t eat, you can’t work. They put you out to pasture at a very early age —’You’re done, you’re retired,’ and we’re not,” the determined actress added.
“We’re vibrant, and we have such a different outlook on life. We are people who want to work and embrace life and keep moving forward.”
Shannen also admitted that she was led on a journey to find the bigger meaning of life after being faced with questions such as ‘Why Me?’ ‘Why stage four cancer?’ and ‘Why did I get cancer?’
The revelation comes months after Doherty revealed she had to undergo a brain surgery to remove a tumor she jokingly named Bob.
“He had to get removed and dissected to see his pathology. It was definitely one of the scariest things I’ve ever been through in my entire life,” she said back in June.
