Dozens of children were on a school bus that crashed and flipped during a routine school run.
The tragic accident took place in Frome, England, where a bus carrying dozens of schoolchildren crashed, overturned, and flew off a road in Oldford Hill on Monday afternoon.
Immediately after the crash, first responders, including a number of air ambulances, were deployed to the scene.
While no casualties have so far been reported, several children suffered injuries in the crash. Their current condition remains unclear.
According to the preliminary reports, none of the victims is believed to be in a life-threatening condition. Some of the children were treated at the scene while others were taken to the hospital for further treatment.
“Emergency services have been called to an incident involving a bus near Frome this afternoon,” Avon and Somerset Police confirmed.
“Police received a call from a member of the public at approximately 3.35 pm, that a bus had overturned on the B3090 Oldford Hill.
“A number of passengers, including schoolchildren, received minor injuries and were checked over by paramedics at the scene.”
The authorities added: “A small number are being taken to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment or assessment. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing.
“Officers are liaising with the school, as well as the parents of children involved in this incident. Enquiries will continue at the scene to establish the cause of the collision. The road is likely to remain closed for some time, so we’d ask motorists to avoid the area if possible.”
The cause of the accident currently remains under investigation.
