Actor Matthew Perry is opening up some more about his scary battle with alcohol and how it was a very tough journey, to begin with.
But along the way, there is one person to who he feels that he owes the world. And that is his fellow co-star from ‘Friends’- actress Jennifer Aniston.
Opening up about his battle with alcoholism hasn’t been easy for the celeb but looking back at his journey has made him realize one thing for sure. True friends never leave your side. They show you the mirror of what’s really taking place and then go about helping you.
In his case, a fellow friend and work colleague on the sets of Friends, Jennifer Aniston was just that for him. She is the one who made him realize that yes, he’s got a problem with drinking and yes, he needs help before it’s too late.
“This was a time that I needed my friends the most. And she really did reach out to me. I can’t be more grateful for all the loving people I’m surrounded with”- the actor stated in a candid interview.
This was all part of the trailer for his upcoming ABC New Interview with renowned host Diane Sawyer.
From substance abuse to his rise to fame, Matt opened up about plenty of things. And the way Jennifer Aniston addressed his issues to him on the sets of Friends really opened his eyes to something that he had never thought about.
“We all know that you’re drinking. It’s not just me but the rest of the cast too”- she continued. And he knew at that point that he may have an issue.
Today, he’s sober and good to go but at that time, he wasn’t. And to know something like that was one of the scariest points of his career.
