A Russian soldier who was captured in Ukraine was caught on camera begging his family not to believe the Russian propaganda.
Amid Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and the Russian dictator’s attack on the country’s independence, concerning reports of Ukrainian civilians being beaten, sexually assaulted, and killed have emerged.
Now, a captured Russian soldier urged his own family not to believe a word Putin says as he accused the government of “brainwashing” Russian people.
In the shocking video, which was posted on social media by the Security Service of Ukraine, the young man goes on to accuse Russian troops of war crimes saying soldiers are killing civilians including young children.
“What is happening here [in Ukraine] is all Russia’s fault. Neither Ukraine nor anyone else. They [Russian troops] are killing people civilians. Babies are being murdered,” the Russian soldier told his mother during a video call.
Revealing that he was captured by the Ukrainian army, the young man admitted that he is being treated well before reassuring his family that they should not worry about anything.
He then goes on to send a message to his countrymen saying Ukrainians are not “bad people” as Moscow would have Russians believe.
“We’re the aggressor, we’re the destroyers. So, as they say, we’re the cannon meat,” he added.
Posting the now-viral video on Facebook, the Ukrainian Security Service said:
“The tanker-aggressor begs his relatives not to trust a single word that is heard on Russian television, because the Kremlin authorities are deliberately brainwashing with lies.
“The occupier admits that Russia is the aggressor, their troops are beating civilians and killing children. At the same time, he says that for him, captivity is ‘the only chance for survival.’
“He will live, but will not go unpunished! Let’s win together!”
