An entire Russian platoon has reportedly surrendered after being overwhelmed by Ukrainian forces and realizing the true nature of their mission.
Following Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, hundreds of casualties and dozens of explosions have been reported after Russian troops forced their way deep into the country.
While Russia has reportedly already occupied a number of strategic points including the Chernobyl nuclear exclusion zone.
Ukraine, however, is not giving up without a fight.
According to the Ukrainian commander-in-chief, the army has captured up to 50 soldiers making up the 74th brigade of motorcycle rifles.
The entire platoon allegedly surrendered to the Ukrainian armed forces and claimed they were unaware that they would be sent to Ukraine to kill people.
Ukrainian armed forces also shared a picture of a bandaged man believed to be the captured leader of the 74th brigade platoon.
“Nobody thought that we were going to kill. We were not going to fight – we were collecting information,” the commander allegedly insisted.
The information surrounding the platoon’s surrender was also confirmed by Ambassador Oksana Markarova who said:
“We’ve had confirmation from our Chief Commander one of the platoons of the 74th Motorized Brigade from Kemerovo has surrendered.
“Also noting they didn’t know they were brought in to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians. They thought they were doing something else there.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces managed to capture several soldiers of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic after the latter attacked the town of Schastwye.
At the same time, Ukraine brought down at least five Russian attack helicopters and six jets while destroying at least fifteen T-72 tanks using American anti-tank missiles.
