Russia has deployed its nuclear submarine carrying a doomsday weapon capable of triggering radioactive tsunamis.
In its latest show of strength and amid rising tensions in Ukraine, Russia’s Putin appears to have deployed the Belgorod – a 600-foot submarine that carries the Poseidon drone – according to NATO.
The NATO warning was reportedly leaked to and published by the Italian media after Belgorod vanished from its base in the Arctic Circle.
It is believed that the submarine, which carries the Poseidon nuke, could be on the way to the Kara Sea for further testing of the doomsday weapon.
Also known as the Poseidon drone, the 79-foot nuke can reportedly travel any distance on the planet while reaching a maximum speed of up to 125 mph.
“Unique characteristics of the Poseidon system will help the Navy to successfully combat aircraft carriers and strike groups of a potential adversary in any oceanic theatre of war and destroy shore infrastructure facilities,” Admiral Igor Katasonov previously said.
“It is a completely new type of weapon that will force Western navies to change their planning and develop new countermeasures,” military expert H I Sutton said of the weapon.
The news comes after Putin’s mouthpieces boasted of Russia’s underwater missile and claimed it could cause radioactive tsunamis as high as 1,640 feet.
“Another option to plunge Britain into the depths of the sea is the Russian underwater robotic drone Poseidon. It approaches the target at a one kilometer depth with the speed of 200 kilometers per hour [125mph],” Kremlin’s propagandist Dmitry Kiselyov said on state tv back in May.
“There is no way to stop this underwater drone. It has a warhead with a capacity of up to 100 megatons. The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo close to Britain’s shores will raise a giant wave, a tsunami, up to 500 meters [1,640ft] high.
“This tidal wave is also a carrier of extremely high doses of radiation. Surging over Britain, it will turn what is probably left of them into radioactive desert. Permanently unusable for anything.”
Amid the war in eastern Europe and rising tensions between Russia and the West, Putin has reportedly also deployed the nuclear military train that was seen transporting nuclear-arms division equipment across the country to the frontline presumably to intimidate Ukraine and its allies after the forceful annexation of four Ukrainian regions.
