Russia is planning to stage public executions in Ukraine once the cities are captured ‘to break morale,’ European intelligence officials claim.
Imprisonment of political opponents and crackdowns on protests are also said to be part of the invasion strategy.
According to Bloomberg, the source claims to have seen papers from Russia’s intelligence agency the Federal Security Service.
The agency is also planning repressive detention of protest organizers and violent crowd control to ‘break Ukrainian morale,’ Bloomberg’s political editor Kitty Donaldson said.
As the invasion of Ukraine continues, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin told France’s Emmanuel Macron that he’s planning to fully realize his military conquest of the region.
Russia has taken over Kherson and confirmed that their forces have control over local government headquarters in the Black Sea port of 280,000 people.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged the Russian president to have a discussion and reach an agreement.
“I have to talk to Putin, the world has to talk to Putin, because there is no other ways to stop this war,” he said.
According to the United Nations, over one million people are already fleeing to other countries.
Ukrainian media reported that Russian soldiers have also entered the city of Enerhodar, a major energy hub that accounts for one-quarter of Ukraine’s power generation.
It is where the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, the biggest in Europe, is located.
The mayor of Enerhodar said Ukrainian troops are battling the invaders on the city’s edges.
The outskirts of another strategic port city on the Azov Sea, Mariupol, is also under attack. Phone connections and electricity are down, and homes and stores are facing water and food shortages.
