As many as sixty people are presumed dead after Russia’s missile strike on a school in eastern Ukraine.
On Sunday, Putin’s forces allegedly bombed the Belogorovskaya school in Bilohorivka where around ninety people sought shelter in the building’s basement.
Following a missile strike, the emergency responders were able to rescue thirty people, whereas sixty remain buried in the rubble and are presumed dead.
“Just yesterday in the village of Bilogorivka, Lugansk region, a Russian bomb killed 60 people. Civilians,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a G7 video conference.
Confirming the horrific attack was also Luhansk regional governor Serhiy Haidai who revealed that only thirty people and two bodies were retrieved after the bombing.
On Telegram, he wrote: “Most likely, all 60 people who remain under the rubble are now dead.”
The governor also claimed that two young boys, aged 14 and 11, died in the Russian shelling.
“The fire was extinguished after nearly four hours, then the rubble was cleared, and unfortunately the bodies of two people were found,” Haidai added.
According to the reports, the rescue operations in the area continued throughout Sunday. It is not clear if more bodies or survivors have since been located.
Last week, Haidai also publicly condemned Russia’s actions after the invaders annihilated the iconic Lysychansk Multidisciplinary Gymnasium.
“After the victory of Ukraine, we will make every effort to restore the gymnasium,” the governor vowed after the gymnasium’s destruction.
Speaking of the importance of the sports center, former graduate Yana Goncharenko added: “It was created more than 100 years ago by the Belgians.
It was among the top 100 schools in the country.
It survived two world wars and the battle for the city in 2014, but animals without morals burned it down in 2022. ”What are your thoughts on this matter? Let us know in the comments and don’t forget to SHARE this post with your family and friends. For more news and stories, follow us on Facebook!
