It was a nightmare come true for one family when a toddler was reportedly run over and killed by a vehicle after he wandered out alone into the streets.
The 21-month-old little boy died after he slammed against a jeep during the early morning hours while his family was on vacation. Little did his parents know that he had left their Irish holiday home and managed to sneak outside without them realizing.
“Our baby was asleep. This whole time we thought he was asleep”- the mother cried as both parents claim they were still in a state of absolute shock over the incident.
The family happened to be visiting some of their family friends during that time and hence were staying over. But that’s when one of the residents of the area had pulled into their land with their vehicle, claiming they had not seen the child.
But they managed to strike the little child on the streets, killing him in an instant.
At the moment, the cops are treating the horrifying tragedy as a terrible accident while they continue to carry out their investigations on the matter.
The heartbroken parents revealed the identity of the location to be a rural road on Co. Roscommon. They broke down in tears while trying to answer some of the questions of authorities pertaining to the matter.
Cops claim the jeep collided with the child at about 9 am in the morning, right outside the area where his parents were staying in Ballinagare.
Meanwhile, one source explained to Daily Mail recently how the child managed to leave the home on his own, after getting out of his bed. He walked off the property and at that time, both of his parents were still sleeping.
When the driver of the jeep realized what happened, he immediately went to inform the occupants of the home what had just happened. But at first, they told him that he was mistaken. They said it must be someone else’s child because theirs was still sleeping in bed. However, that was far from the reality of the matter.
