Magnum, PI star Roger Mosley died at the age of 83 after fighting for his life for three days following an auto accident in California.
The actor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after the car accident in Lynwood, his heartbroken daughter Ch-a confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Announcing the heartbreaking news on Facebook, she wrote: “Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your “coach Mosley” your “TC” from Magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17 am.”
Ch-a also said that her father was surrounded by loved ones when he “transcended peacefully.”
“We could never mourn such an amazing man,” she continued. “He would HATE any crying done in his name.
“It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all. I love you daddy. You loved me too. My heart is heavy but I am strong. I will care for mommy, your love of almost 60 years. You raised me well and she is in good hands. Rest easy.”
Mosley was famous for his role as Theodore TC Calvin on Magnum P.I. from 1990 to 1988. Appearing on 158 episodes, his character was a proprietor of the helicopter business Island Hoppers.
In an interview with Jim Conlan in 2019, Mosley recalled how he initially didn’t want to make any interruptions in his movie career by making the series.
He said that his agent told him: “It’s starring this guy Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck has made about five pilot shows … and none of them have sold. So here’s what you do, Roger: Sign up for the show, go over to Hawaii, they’ll treat you good for the 20 days it will take to shoot the (pilot), you’ll get a lot of money, and then you come home. A show with Tom Selleck always fails, and you’ll be fine.”
“Well, 8 and a half years later,” he added.
Mosley said that his character Calvin was initially written to be running a struggling helicopter business but he insisted that he did not want to “be the only Black person in Hawaii and be broke.”
The writers then ‘reversed’ and decided Tom Selleck would be broke, “and I would be financially well off – except I was bailing him out.”
The actor also appeared on TV shows The Love Boat, Sanford and Son, Fact Checkers Unit, Texas Ranger, Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, and more.
