A 41-year-old convicted killer has been quietly released from jail in February after he reportedly served 27 years for carrying out the horrific murder of a toddler.
According to local media reports, the suspect was identified as 41-year-old Eric Smith who brutally killed 4-year-old Derrick Robie.
When the killer was just 13, he had lured the young child into the woods with him in Savona, New York. And that is where he reportedly strangled him to death and even bludgeoned him using rocks.
Therefore, Smith had been tried one year later when he attained the age of 14. He was then charged for second-degree murder and sentenced to nine years to life in prison, with the possibility of parole being attached.
Then, Smith was granted release on parole when he tried for the 11th time in the month of October in 2021.
Now, that he is free as a bird, he is said to be living in Queens, New York, and has also recently gotten engaged too.
Shockingly, it was the victim’s parents who exposed the killer to the public and objected upon his released and parole, every time he applied. But in the end, it was to their vain as he was finally released on his 11th attempt.
Other reports have also revealed how the killer had abused the child’s body s*xually using a stick.
During his recent parole hearing, the suspect appeared in front of the Board of Parole. To his and everyone else’s surprise, the decision of his release was announced.
Sources claim that he had managed to argue for his case in a bold manner where he continues to declare that he was a child at that time and now is a changed man.
He also stated how he no longer posed any threat to society and on those grounds, he should be released.
