A teacher has reportedly been sent to prison for refusing to acknowledge gender-neutral pronouns.
According to local media reports, the incident took place recently in Ireland where a man who claims to adore teaching to bits revealed that he just couldn’t stand calling a boy a girl and for that, he’s being jailed today.
Enoch Burke was arrested by the police yesterday during the morning hours after he reportedly breached an order sent out by the court of law.
It went on to detail how he was barred from the teaching profession or being present at the school where he was employed. This was recently outlined to be Westmeath School.
The dispute began when he refused to call a trans student ‘they’ instead of he. This was on request of the student which he utterly refused because he claims there is no such thing as gender-neutral pronouns and hence can’t be forced to say something that he does not believe in.
Both the students and his parents complained that they didn’t like the term ‘he’ and would much rather be respected by calling the child they.
After the dispute that followed between the school and the teacher, he was suspended from carrying out any further academic activities.
“I absolutely love my school and my teaching profession”- he explained in an emotional tone. “But I am here today in jail because I refuse to call a boy a girl!”- he boldly elaborated.
The counsel taking care of the case has said they’ve been left with no decision but to move ahead with the decision.
“With a heavy heart, we’re announcing this”- they mentioned via a public statement.
They say they were left with no choice as the teacher continued to attend school despite being given a court order.Recommended Video For You!
