A reality TV star who appeared in Bling Empire died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 62, her family revealed.
Anna Shay was best known for appearing in three seasons of Netflix’s Bling Empire alongside Christine Chiu, Kelly Mi Li, Kim Lee, Dorothy Wang, Kevin Kreider, and more.
According to Variety, the TV personality died after suffering a stroke. She is survived by her son Kenny Kemp, 27, and one or more grandchildren.
“It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke,” Shay’s family confirmed in a statement.
“Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things. Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but not forgotten.”
The tragic news comes months after Anna’s final social media post in which she wished her friends happy holidays.
“Wishing everyone happy holiday… May all your dreams come true. And a very special Thank you to all at the Netflix,” she wrote on December 2.
Anna was by far the richest member of the Bling Empire cast after her net worth jumped to $600 million when she and her brother sold their father’s company – Pacific Architects and Engineers – to Lockheed Martin in 2006.
The defense and government services company reportedly worked with the UN and the US government and was founded by Anna’s billionaire father Edward Shay.
“It was so confusing when I got the checks. I didn’t know what to do with them,” Anna previously admitted as she revealed she didn’t know what to do with the money she earned from the Netflix show.
“I didn’t cash them, then I got in trouble for not cashing them. I have them in a savings account. I’d like to have a party some time. I don’t think the money belongs to me. I think it belongs to the crew that had to put up with me.”
