BREAKING: Legendary Rapper Dies Moments After Collapsing On Stage


A veteran rapper has passed away just hours after collapsing on stage during his performance.

48-year-old Milton Powell, who was better known by his stage name Big Pokey, died on Saturday just moments after falling backward on stage while performing in Beaumont, Texas.

As of this writing, the cause of the shocking death remains unclear and the family is awaiting the results of the autopsy.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell. Big Pokey passed away on June 18, 2023. He was well-loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans,” the rapper’s publicist revealed in a statement shared by FOX 26.

“In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects.

“We ask that you respect his family and their privacy during this difficult time. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit in the Litter.’”

The tragic news comes just moments after the Who Dat Talking Down hitmaker suffered a medical emergency during his performance at Beaumont’s Pour 09 Bar.

After the emergency responders arrived at the scene, Big Pokey was rushed to the ER at St. Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead moments later.

Fans and fellow rapper figures have since taken to social media to pay the musician warm tributes and remember him as a veteran Houston rapper.

“Low key, humble mountain of a man who moved with honor and respect. He was easy to love and hard to hate. There will never be another and will be missed dearly. We love and honor you. Rest in heaven,” Houston rapper Bun B wrote.

“He was one of the hardest outta the S.U.C. & it saddens me to have to say rest in peace. We’ve lost another legend,” DJ Spydermann added.

Meanwhile, Houston rap icon Slim Thug branded the late performer’s passing as a “sad day in the city” as he paid his respects to his family.
