The Royal family has been rocked by more terrible news as it has come to light that the Queen’s lady-in-waiting had passed away.
Just days after Christmas, 90-year-old Diana Maxwell, Lady Farnham, passed away after being by the Queen’s side for more than three decades.
Lady Farnham became one of the monarch’s closest friends and confidantes after becoming Lady of Bedchamber in 1987.
The devastating news presents another major blow for the Queen who lost her husband, Prince Philip, and the Duchess of Grafton, Ann Fortune FitzRoy, last year.
“It is very sad for the Queen. Everyone loved Lady Farnham, she was always so good humored. She was also a very glamorous and attractive woman,” a royal insider told The Telegraph.
“She was always very generous to new people joining the household.”
The source added: “It has not been a good year for the Queen – losing her husband and then the Duchess of Grafton and now Lady Farnham.
“They were dear friends who supported the Queen on official duties. Unfortunately a sad consequence of living a long life is that you have to say goodbye to a lot of people you care about.”
Lady Farnham joined the Royal household in 1987 when she became Lady of Bedchamber. Just over a decade later, in 1998, the Queen recognized her exceptional service and appointed her as a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
Later, in 2010, the Queen personally awarded Lady Farnham by appointing her as Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
Our thoughts are with Lady Farnham’s family and friends during these challenging times.
