Russia reportedly launched dozens of missiles and bombed Kyiv along with other major Ukrainian cities while vowing more attacks.
83 missiles were fired on Monday morning after Putin and his allies vowed revenge for the partial destruction of the Crimea Bridge and the crippling of the Russian supply line into Ukraine.
While Putin claimed that his army targeted military, communication, and energy targets across the country, Ukrainian officials confirmed that at least 11 people were killed and dozens injured after some of the missiles struck populated areas.
Among the cities bombed by the Russian dictator was the capital of Kyiv as well as other key locations such as Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Kharkiv, and more.
The bombings come shortly after Ukrainian officials boasted of the attack on the Crimea Bridge that severely weakened Russian supply lines and after Ukraine reclaimed massive parts of the territory that was occupied by the invaders in the east of the country.
The unsettling news comes as Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, raised fears of further escalations in Europe after unraveling plans for his country to join the war in Ukraine.
“I’ve said already that today Ukraine is not just discussing but planning strikes on the territory of Belarus,” Lukashenko allegedly claimed, without providing any proof, during a meeting with security officials as he attempted to justify Belarus joining arms with Russia in the invasion of Ukraine, state news agency Belta reported.point 442 | 1
“We have agreed to deploy a regional grouping of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.”
As of this writing, it remains unclear where or how many troops Belarus intends to deploy and what exactly their role will be.
