Prince Harry rushed to Balmoral Castle alone, almost one hour and a half after it was announced that his grandmother, the Queen, has passed away.
Buckingham Palace announced the Queen’s death at 6:30 pm and the Duke of Sussex arrived at the Scottish estate at 7:52 pm.
According to reports, the father-of-two went to Balmoral alone, without his wife Meghan.
Harry was expected to attend the WellChild Awards in London to deliver a speech before he canceled his appearance after the heartbreaking announcement of his grandmother’s passing.
It is understood that the Duchess of Sussex may have stayed in London but will not attend the event. A source said that she could later join Harry.
The couple had not been expected to see other members of the Royal Family during their visit to the UK. The last time they saw the Queen was in June during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Sussexes also introduced their daughter Lilibet for the first time.
King Charles was seen taking a royal helicopter to Balmoral from Dumfries House with his wife.
A flight carrying other members of the Royal Family, including Prince William, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, landed at Aberdeen at around four in the afternoon.
Prince William reportedly drove his Range Rover with his aunt and uncles amid concerns about the Queen’s health earlier in the day.
It was later announced that the Queen died ‘peacefully’ at Balmoral castle at the age of 96.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace announced.
