A pregnant Navy veteran was fatally shot at a nightclub after an argument broke out.
29-year-old Precious Vernetta Dyer, who was four months pregnant, was killed in a senseless shooting after being struck by a stray bullet at the Evolution Music Hall nightclub in Wilson, North Carolina, on Sunday, December 26.
According to the reports, the young lady, who was in the US Navy for seven years, was shot by an unidentified suspect after an argument broke out at the club.
By the time first responders arrived at the scene, Precious and her baby were already dead. As the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed, the servicewoman was an “innocent patron at the event,” whereas it is believed she wasn’t the intended target of the gunman.
As of this writing, the police have yet to identify the shooter, whereas their task was made harder due to the large volume of partygoers who were in the club at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information related to the shooting is urged to step forward and reach out to the authorities immediately.
“It’s been terrible. For me, I know that Christmas will never be the same. Someone knows who did it. Tell, call. If it was your daughter… you’d like to know who shot them, who took their life,” Dyer’s mom, Tijuana Locus, said after the tragic shooting.
Locus also recalled how she got “nervous” and “upset” after hearing about the shooting and failing to get a response from her daughter.
As of this writing, the investigation remains ongoing. Our thoughts are with Precious’ family, friends, and her boyfriend.
