A pregnant teenage girl was killed along with her baby while using her phone shortly after taking a bath.
17-year-old Jennifer Karolayne from Paraiba, Brazil, was killed at her home after attempting to charge her phone moments after taking a bath.
According to the reports, the young girl was still wet when she tried to plug her phone into an outlet to charge it. At that moment, however, an electrical current passed through her body and killed both her and her unborn baby.
By the time the paramedics arrived at the home following a call for help from the victim’s husband, both Jennifer and her baby were already gone.
The girl’s partner has since told the authorities that his wife just got out of the bath and that she was still wet when she attempted to charge her phone by plugging it into what appears to be a faulty extension.
The man also explained that he found his wife spread over the floor after hearing a loud scream from the room. While attempting to help the girl, he, too, was electrocuted.
According to Jennifer’s mother-in-law, the 17-year-old was nine months pregnant and looking forward to becoming a mother.
Following the incident, an investigation into the teen’s death has been launched. The double death is being investigated as accidental and no foul play is suspected.
Campina Grande Homicide Police Station Chief, Ramirison Pedro, further said his unit would continue investigating the matter until all the circumstances leading to the tragic incident are established.
