State and local officials have reportedly reached a consensus to release the dramatic footage of the Uvalde shooting incident that left 19 students and two teachers dead.
According to local media reports, the incident that took place on May 24 shocked the country when it was revealed that the cops stood there and did nothing for a good 77 minutes, during which innocent students and two teachers were slaughtered.
A teenage gunman entered the school’s premises with his rifle and began spraying the classroom with bullets as cops stood outside.
The 18-year-old first stalked across the school’s parking lot at Robb Elementary school, moments after he barged inside the shot down of his innocent victims.
For now, it is still not clear when the footage will be released but many expect that could be out as early as Monday, July 11, 2022.
New reports from ABC news revealed how a recent hearing had taken place and that’s when it was decided that the footage would be released. However, no graphic images would be a part of the video or any moments depicting extreme moments of violence would be aired.
“I can tell people what I saw, all day long. But it will be very different when you take a look at it all, from your perspective”- mentioned Rep Dustin Burrows who is the head leading the investigations of the incident.
Burrows adds how such information needs to be made public so the families of the victims can gain closure as to what really happened on that day, adding how important of a task it is.
“We are committed to putting pressure on the situation and consider all of the options available so the video can be aired and so the public gets to view what really went on”- he concluded.
Many officials and experts have previously admitted how the incident could have been stopped much sooner if the cops managed to get in and kill the attacker earlier, instead of allowing the bloodshed to continue for so long.
