Police have spoken out and shared more heartbreaking details about former child star Evan Ellingson’s death.
TMZ first reported the heartbreaking news of his passing at the age of 35. According to the news outlet, it had been confirmed by Ellingson’s grieving father as well as officials from the San Bernardino County coroner’s office.
The actor was reportedly found in his bedroom and there were no signs of foul play.
TMZ was also told by Ellingson’s father, Michael, that his son was at a sober living home when he was found.
His sudden passing left his family shocked as he had been doing well.
Law enforcement sources have spoken out and said that the incident is being investigated as a possible overdose.
They claimed paraphernalia was discovered at the property in San Bernardino County and officials are now conducting an investigation.
The outlet also added that what happens with the investigation will depend on the results of the toxicology report.
Ellingson was best known for his role in ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ alongside Cameron Diaz, Abigal Breslin, and Alec Baldwin.
Breslin took to Instagram and paid tribute to her co-star, writing: “Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny and extremely talented human being.
“Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished. Some of his scenes in [‘My Sister’s Keeper’] still give me chills.”
The former child star also appeared in the 2006 movie ‘Letters from Iwo Jima.’ He also played the role of Kyle Harmon in ‘CSI: Miami’ and played Josh Bauer in the hit series ’24.’
Despite his child stardom, the actor had not appeared on screen in more than ten years.
