A plane carrying more than one hundred passengers has crashed into the mountains in rural China.

A Boeing 737 belonging to China Eastern Airlines plummeted to the ground and caused a massive fire and clouds of smoke after suddenly losing speed in the sky above the Guangxi province.

In shocking footage, plumes of smoke could be seen rising from a forest near the city of Wuzhou after the Boeing 737 crashed into a hillside.

While rescuers have already been dispatched according to the local reports, it is currently unclear how many passengers or crew members were killed or injured in the crash.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the fallen aircraft was the Boeing 737-89P model and not part of the controversial 737 Max series.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the plane was on the way from Kunming to Guangzhou under flight number MU5735.

Collected data so far suggests that the aircraft suffered a rapid loss of speed just moments before 6:20 UTC according to Flight Radar.

From then on, the Boeing began plunging towards the mountainous region near the city of Wuzhou which lies in Guangxi province.

According to the reports, the plane in question was received by China Eastern Airlines back in June 2015.

Since then, the aircraft designed for short and medium-haul flights allegedly operated without major issues until this Monday’s disaster.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the 737-89P was cleared for flight by the country’s aviation regulator at the end of 2021.
