The plane crash that resulted in the deaths of 132 people in China was not an accident, investigation reveals.
On March 21, a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 suddenly lost altitude as it plummeted to the ground and caused a massive explosion that killed nine crew members and 123 passengers.
In shocking photos from the scene, large parts of the forest near Wuzhou, Guangxi province, were seen going up in flames with a screen of smoke spreading across the region following the crash.
It was later revealed that the doomed MU5735 flight was on the way from Kunming to Guangzhou when it suddenly lost altitude and nosedived straight to the ground.
While the tragic crash was initially thought to be an accident, sources have now confirmed that someone in the cockpit likely crashed the plane on purpose.
“The plane did what it was told to do by someone in the cockpit,” a source with intel on the investigation and the analysis of the black boxes retrieved from the plane claimed, Wall Street Journal reported.
Another source told Reuters that the crew has come under investigation and that no sign of a technical malfunction was discovered in the investigation.
While China Eastern Airlines initially grounded all of its 737-800 Boeings, the planes have returned to service after a thorough investigation revealed that nothing appeared to be wrong with the plane.
The plane crash represents the biggest aviation incident in China in the last 28 years. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims as they continue to grieve for their loved ones.
