Devastating news coming in from Philadelphia has gone on to reveal how a massive fire has killed up to 13 individuals including seven children.
According to local media reports, the fire managed to tear down two giant duplex apartments that were located at 860 North 23rd Street at Fairmount, Philadelphia at about 6:30 am.
There were around 18 people living across both of the apartments that were reportedly owned as well as maintained by the city.
But by the time the firefighters managed to get inside, at least people had already died due to the massive flames. And the deceased had many children included as well.
Authorities have stated that at least eight people managed to escape the horror of the blaze, while firefighters did succeed at rescuing two survivors, one of which was a child.
While the exact cause of the horrifying blame is yet to be determined, many are still questioning the bizarre reasons as to why the four smoke detectors present inside failed to signal an alarm.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jim Kinney stated that this was without a doubt one of the most heartbreaking and tragic incidents to ever occur in the city’s history.
The smoke detectors were last inspected for functioning and service in the year 2020, as revealed by local media reports.
Authorities have confirmed that the fire first began on the building’s second floor and then managed to spread in an upwards direction, right after which it tore through the building’s top.
Here is where eight people were present and they managed to make a quick escape from the devasting tragedy that took away the lives of so many others.
Firefighters could only make it inside the building, around 50 minutes later, rescuing two people, including a child that is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
