Sales of pepper sprays have spiked after the tragic stabbing incident in Chinatown, Manhattan.
Many women claim that they are feeling awfully unsafe in the Big Apple after a Creative Lead was reportedly murdered at her own apartment in lower Manhattan.
The accused suspect who was freed on bail followed the victim all the way to her residence and stabbed her to death using a knife.
Her body was recovered from her home’s bathtub while the accused was found hiding underneath her bed.
Sources also revealed how the victim’s body was covered with more than 40 stab wounds and she was found naked from her waist up.
While it is still unclear whether or not the victim knew the suspect, the former is being held in jail without any bail currently.
But the terrifying news has sent shockwaves around New York City as many women claim that Manhattan was once looked at as an oasis. Now, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
“I have to look over my shoulder sometimes to see if I’m being followed or not”- revealed one 34-year-old woman named Elise Hsu who is a real estate agent that resides in Chinatown.
She continued to reveal how the incident was a grim reminder for all women to take matters into their own hands and stop relying on the police for their safety because the crime rate continues to soar.
“This is every woman’s nightmare. I spend my time thinking that will I be harassed? Will I be r*ped? Will I be murdered inside my home?”- she continued.
Recent statistics from The Post spoke about how so many women interviewed claimed that they no longer feel safe in the Big Apple and more than five leading businesses have picked up on pepper spray sales after the incident.
