The Parkland shooter who killed 17 others in one of the most horrifying school shooting incidents of all time will reportedly not be sentenced to death.
Nikolas Cruz made history after taking part in the deadliest incidents regarding school shootings in the US. And many were beyond certain that he would be punished for his crime. Instead, he was spared a death sentence and will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of getting parole.
As you can imagine, the outrage and fury behind the decision make absolute sense because many felt a murderer who killed 17 others deserved the punishment of death.
But that was not the same belief of the jury who felt that a life sentence would be more appropriate in this case.
Cruz made the headlines when he reportedly shot dead a total of 14 students and three staff members at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. The incident reportedly took place in February 2018.
Cruz did plead guilty to the horrifying crime and had undergone a long trial. Today, it ended with sentencing that left many people shocked. Seeing him walk away without a death sentence did really blow people’s minds.
The loved ones of the victims claim to be horrified at what has just taken place.
They said the decision made them sad and angry at the same time. “Giving mercy to Nikolas Cruz will say more about who you are than what it says about him”- one family member added.
Others claim that so many families have been shattered forever, thanks to one man’s crimes. Therefore, it just does not make sense to see this type of verdict take center stage.
