Terrifying reports coming in from Brussels have confirmed how a male suspect was seen driving his giant van into the seating area located outside a cafe.
At least six people were said to be injured in the terrifying incident while the driver of the scene had quickly fled while leaving his vehicle behind.
The latest reports have confirmed how the suspect was just caught by authorities after an urgent hunt was underway. At the moment, investigations are taking place to determine the exact motive of the driver. He was arrested in the city of Antwerp, just 28 miles away from Brussels.
Meanwhile, the UK embassy in Belgium has urged UK nationals in the area to follow their official guidance while they failed to outline any form of a literal threat after the tragedy.
Haunting footage from the scene of the crime is also making the rounds on social media too. Here, the crazy van driver is seen plowing his giant vehicle into the cafe outdoors.
There were plenty of diners who were seated inside, and they had no idea about the driver’s intentions.
Screams of injured people were heard as rescue services made their way toward the cafe. All of those injured were rushed to a local nearby hospital where they are being treated for their injuries. While some are major, others were minorly affected.
One witness described the horror, adding how she’s never seen anything like this take place in her life.
“These were innocent people. They were enjoying the great outdoor weather and some good food. They did not deserve this!”- she continued.
At least six people were injured and thankfully, no casualties are yet to be reported. But the city is on major alert as investigations into the horrifying aftermath continue.
