The internet has entered into a frenzy after a US congressman posted a family holiday picture featuring guns, just a few days after the school shooting in Michigan.
Thomas Massie was slammed on Saturday for being highly insensitive after he put up the jaw-dropping image of himself, alongside six other people which appear to be his family members.
The news spread like wildfire on social media, turning into a mega debate on Twitter too. Many were outraged as just days had passed by where four innocent students were killed when a 15-year-old opened fire on his classmates using a weapon his father helped him purchase.
But the picture is not the only thing on so many people’s minds as the congressman was highly insensitive to even put up a caption with his picture on Twitter that stated the following: “Merry Christmas! PS. Santa please bring ammo.”
This was definitely not something many saw coming, especially from US Representative Thomas Massie who hails from Kentucky.
Massie represents a solidly Republican district in Kentucky, and that’s why the outrage was even more massive than expected as many felt it was a slap in the face to those who lost their loved ones in the deadly Oxford school shooting that occurred this past week.
In the image, the congressman is seen with a wide and beaming smile as he and his six loved ones, which include children, start smiling for the camera. They can be seen proudly displaying their firearms that included an M60 machine gun, a mega AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and even a giant Thompson submachine gun too.
The fact that licenses for such weapons can only be given to those with special permission has sparked major debate, especially because young individuals were also seen flaunting them in the holiday-themed picture.
