An Aussie reality TV star died suddenly after being involved in a freak accident at a workshop in Queensland, Australia.
66-year-old Outback Opal Hunters star Ron Selig was at an industrial site in remote Queensland when he fell to the ground from nearly twenty feet after an iron roofing sheet collapsed under his feet.
According to the preliminary reports, an investigation into the presumed accident has been launched. Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the actor succumbed to his injuries shortly after the fall.
“It is understood the worker accessed the roof of the workshop to make repairs following damage caused by a severe weather event when a structural member failed,” Mineral Mines & Quarries Inspectorate revealed in a statement.
“Investigations are ongoing and further information may be published as it becomes available.”
Selig was best known for his role in Outback Opal Hunters, a Channel Seven series that follows opal miners across Australia.
“Ron was a much-loved member of the Outback Opal Hunters family. A great character and amazing Opal Hunter, always chasing that color. We will always fondly remember Ron,” the Channel 7 show wrote in a tribute.
The beloved actor’s daughter, Mel, proudly added: “The passing and the loss of our father has been the most challenging time for me and our whole family, Ron’s mother, children, grandchildren and friends included, as well as yourselves.
“Ron is exactly how he is in real life as he was on Outback Opal Hunters! Dad was a kind, caring and a fun loving man, who always would come out with the funniest jokes! Ron was an easy going guy too!”
The grieving daughter continued: “Our family has amazing gratitude for the fact that my dad/Ron, was a part of ‘The Outback Opal Hunters.’ We will also continue to enjoy the episodes he was on, as I’m sure, you all will too. Thanks again for your loving kindness and condolences to Ron Selig! He was definitely one of a kind.”
Our thoughts are with Ron’s family and friends during this challenging time.
