Olivia Newton-John’s niece has spoken out and revealed that her aunt was suffering greatly in her final moments.
The 73-year-old Grease star passed away surrounded by her friends and family at her California home on Monday.
Following the actress and singer’s death, tributes to the “kind” and “loving” performer have begun pouring in from all around the nation.
Meanwhile, Newton-John’s niece Tottie Goldsmith spoke out in an interview with A Current Affair and revealed grisly details about her aunt’s final moments.
Breaking into tears, the 59-year-old said the Hollywood legend’s breast cancer caused her health to deteriorate and made her “really skinny and unwell.”
“It’s not a shock, we’ve known how sick she’s been, especially in the last five days,” Goldsmith said.
She continued: “I couldn’t get to America in time and I wanted to say goodbye, so I asked [her husband John] if he could hold the phone up to her ear… But he got me on FaceTime so I managed to see her.
“I told her all the things I needed to say. She was leaving us… but I feel like she got it.”
During her tear-jerking interview, Goldsmith also told host Tracy Grimshaw that the one thing Olivia was most proud of was her daughter Chloe.
“She loved that girl so much,” the niece said as she admitted “Chloe’s doing it really tough.”
Goldsmith went on to recall her aunt’s decades-long battle with cancer and said she had “struggled with a lot of pain” down the “tough road.”
“There was one day at the Olivia Newtown John Centre and she was really skinny and unwell and I said to her, ‘Are you afraid of dying,’ and she said, ‘Plonker, I’m not afraid. I’ve done more in my life that I could have ever imagined,’” the 59-year-old recalled.
Our thoughts are with Olivia’s friends and family during this heartbreaking time.
