The NYPD rookie who was reportedly filmed giving her lieutenant boss a lap dance says she’s sorry amid the controversy that the viral video has managed to stir across the board.
The rookie not only apologized to the boss but also to his wife, adding how she had zero clue that he was married.
But she didn’t stop there! The NYPD officer also went ahead and boldly stated that the video would never have gone viral in the first place if there was a man doing it, instead of a woman.
“I just personally feel that just because mainly I am a woman and was dressed in a certain manner, being a rookie,- things were different”- explained Vera Mekuli during a recent interview with TMZ.
“If there was a man doing the lap dance instead, I just feel like it would have been taken more lightly or in a joking manner,” she explained. “I also feel that if a man was doing it, it would have probably stayed in-house instead of going public the way it did in my case,” she added.
The 26-year old says that she had ‘no knowledge’ about her superior’s married status and is truly very sorry for the consequences that may come forward as a result of her lap dance.
Since the video surfaced online, the police brass was quick to reassign the lieutenant from 44th Precinct Nick McGarry to the subway patrol.
“I also want to take this opportunity to apologize to his wife, You know, I am sorry, truly I am and I really do hope it did not cause too much damage in your marriage or in your personal life,” she stated.
The NYPD rookie concluded how she realizes it has been rough for her boss and his family and really hopes they can understand where she’s coming from as she never intended her form of ‘fun’ to end up like this.
