The nurse who killed six people in a fatal car crash in Los Angeles while driving 90mph was a former strip club waitress who had a history of threatening suicide, the Daily Mail reported.
Nicole Linton’s life unraveled after Olympic silver medalist Germaine Mason, who she had planned to tie the knot with, died in a motorcycle crash in 2017.
A source close to the ICU nurse said told the news outlet: “When I saw what had happened in LA the first thing that went through my mind was that she had argued with her boyfriend and was drunk and trying to commit suicide.”
The source went on: “She had threatened to do it before. I thought maybe this time she had gone through with it.”
Officers said there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol in Linton’s system but she had an argument with her boyfriend before the tragic incident.
Linton’s lawyers have argued that she has a ‘profound history’ of mental illness.
According to Daily Mail, Linton’s past includes several years working as a cocktail waitress in different strip clubs in New York City, including the Club Eleven and Sin City in the Bronx.
People who knew her described her as a ‘sweet and helpful’ woman, with former Sin City manager Mike Diaz taking to Facebook after the news of the horrific crash in LA broke.
“Wow. This turns out to be OUR Nicole from the Sin City days,” he wrote. “Everyone who worked with her knows her as a pretty sweet, nice girl. I’m so sorry for her and especially sorry for everyone involved: this is heartbreaking. I hope the outcome is just and fair as possible for all.”
