A woman was killed and her husband was left in critical condition after a drunk driver crashed into the couple.
36-year-old Aric Hutchinson and 34-year-old Samantha Miller were pictured smiling from ear to ear as they celebrated their wedding in the company of their loved ones on Friday.
The wedding reception took place at Folly Beach in South Carolina and the pair were pictured in high spirits just moments before an unexpected tragedy tore them apart.
Just moments after leaving their reception in a golf cart, the couple was incapacitated by a suspected drunk driver, 25-year-old Jamie Komoroski, who hit the rear of the cart while driving 65 mph in a 25-mph zone.
According to the reports, two other people were inside the golf cart at the time of the horrific incident.
After the victims were rushed to the hospital, Miller was pronounced dead. Her husband remains in critical condition and it is unclear if he already knows of his wife’s demise.
Involved in the crash was also Aric’s brother-in-law Ben Garrett and nephew Brogan. While Brogan was already released from the hospital, Ben remains in serious condition.
“Sam died from her injuries. Aric is in serious condition and has had one of two reconstruction surgeries, numerous broken bones, and a brain injury, he will have a long recovery. Ben and Brogan were also injured, Ben seriously,” the groom’s mother, Annette, wrote as she set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for the family’s medical expenses and Samantha’s funeral costs.
“I was handed Aric’s wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows. Aric has lost the love of his life.”
The suspect, Jamie Komoroski, has since been arrested and charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm or death.
Our thoughts remain with Aric and Sam’s loved ones during this challenging time.
