A newborn baby was found in a toilet bin on a plane during a routine customs check carried out by airport officials.
The heartbreaking case takes place in Mauritius where a newborn boy was discovered in the trash of a passenger plane that arrived at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport from Madagascar.
According to the reports, the baby boy was still alive when found by airport officials who were carrying out a routine check following the flight.
After the newborn was found, he was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
Meanwhile, the authorities arrested a 20-year-old Madagascar-based woman suspected of dumping the baby into the trash can before exiting the plane.
While the woman initially denied being the child’s mother, the authorities ordered she undergoes a medical examination to determine whether she’d recently given birth.
According to the reports, both the woman and the baby remain in the hospital where they are receiving treatment. They are expected to make a full recovery.
The upsetting news comes shortly after another shocking story concerning a newborn baby had hit the headlines.
Just days before the newborn was found in a toilet bin, another infant was set to be buried after being declared dead even though he was in fact still alive.
The incident took place in Ariquemes, Brazil, where an 18-year-old mother gave birth to a preemie baby just five months into her pregnancy.
After delivering the baby at her home, the infant was rushed to hospital where the doctors claimed he was stillborn.
Hours later, the baby was picked up by a funeral director who noticed the newborn’s heartbeat while making arrangements for his funeral. Following the discovery, the baby was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
