The horrified neighbors of the doctor who shot her baby before turning the gun on himself have spoken out.
According to reports, Dr. Krystal Cascetta entered her baby’s bedroom on Saturday morning and ended the child’s life before taking her own.
The incident occurred in their home in the town of Somers in Westchester County, New York.
Cascetta’s husband, Timothy Tatly, was not at home when the shooting happened but Cascetta’s parents were reportedly inside the house.
Neighbors have now revealed that this was not the first time ambulance and police arrived at the ‘very private’ family’s residence.
Speaking to the New York Post, neighbor Bob Stuart, 71, said: “They had ambulances and police come to their house two, maybe three times this summer. At least twice. I saw the police and ambulances arrive.”
Stuart’s wife, Betsy, also told the news outlet that the family were ‘very private people, kept to themselves,’ as they had not heard from them in almost two years.
The age of the child has not been released but an online registry suggests that the baby was only 4 and a half months old.
Authorities later revealed that the baby was a girl and the only child of the couple.
Friends and patients remembered Cascetta for her compassion, with Maureen Daly writing: “You were caring and very compassionate to your patients. I will miss our talks.”
Eri Barr said: “She was my friend at Albany Med and residency. I always looked up to her.”
Writer Kambri Crews also took to Facebook and said that Cascetta ‘was a star in her field, dedicated and lovely, whip smart and competitive athlete.’
“Years after my cancer surgery, she and I hosted a breast cancer presentation, and she included me on some cutting-dg research and trials. Because of her, I opted to skip chemo as part of one study.”
She added: “She deeply cared for her patients, and I am grateful that I was one.”
