Cops reportedly heard the moment NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson’s mother-in-law shot herself after she shot her husband and grandson.
According to reports, Muskogee Police officers heard a single gunshot when they arrived at Terry Lynn Janway’s property.
As they entered the 68-year-old mother’s home, police found the dead bodies of Terry, her husband Jack, and her 11-year-old grandson.
Police said that the grandmother called 911 to report a ‘woman with a gun’ before ending the call.
When they arrived at the property, they found Jack’s lifeless body in the hallway. They confirmed that they would speak to relatives and neighbors as part of the investigation.
Authorities are treating Johnson’s mother-in-law as the suspect but they have yet to reveal a possible motive.
The seven-time NASCAR cup champion tied the knot with Chandra Janway in 2004 and they share two children together, daughters Lydia and Genevieve.
Johnson was listed to compete at NASCAR’s Chicago street race but Legacy Motor Club have confirmed that he has ‘elected to withdraw’ from the game.
“The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made,” they said.
One grieving relative took to social media and wrote: “Please tell me this isn’t really happening, please god someone.”
Heartbreaking tributes have poured in for the grandson named Dalton, with one describing him the ‘definition of life.’
“He was comical. Spunky. Hands down the funniest kiddo even at a young age,” they wrote.
“Smart was an understatement, that kiddo never failed to amaze me with what his brain could do. His future was bright, his loss is a major loss to all who got the pleasure of meeting and loving him.
“I’m so glad I got to witness his beautiful personality. He was and forever will be loved by many.”
