An aspiring 25-year-old NASA engineer had passed away prematurely after a tornado ripped his house from the ground.
Connor Lambert was at his home in Arabi, New Orleans, together with his dog when an EF3 tornado struck his home and pulled it off its stilts.
According to the reports, the young engineer who worked at the Stennis Space Center was inside his house when the twister lifted it in the air and sent it flying across a neighbor’s home.
After the disaster was over, Connor and his dog were found dead among the debris of the wrecked home.
Speaking to KSLA, neighbor Cole Baiamonte recalled how the 25-year-old arrived at his driveway just moments before the tornado hit the neighborhood.
“It was a horrifying scene, a very unfortunate situation. My family is thankful that God was able to protect us. My heart and prayers are out to this family,” she said.
In devastating photos of the aftermath, dozens of houses in the suburb of Arabi are seen razed to the ground. Among them is the home of Lambert whose house was said to be left in pieces after the ordeal.
“We’re a tight-knit street. We’re screaming for each other, and then when we look over and see Connor’s house, all we could do is scream for him,” another neighbor, Alyssa Wineski, said in an interview with CBS News.
In a touching tribute to the young man, Connor’s grandfather, Bob Lambert Sr., revealed that Connor was loved by everyone he met.
“He was that kind of guy. There are no words to express what we are feeling,” he said.
Our thoughts are with Connor’s family and friends during these challenging times.
