52-year-old Arcellie ‘Celi’ Muschamp was a brave and dedicated nanny from Belize who died while “selflessly saving the life of a 1-year-old she cared for” during a traffic incident in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on December 20.

According to the reports, Celi was walking around the neighborhood with 1-year-old Rowan, whom she was taking care of, when she was struck by a truck at the intersection of Union Street and Fifth Avenue.

Moments before being hit by the oncoming vehicle, the lady managed to push Rowan’s stroller out of harm’s way. While the baby boy survived the incident unscathed, Celi ended up in an induced coma. Eleven days later, on December 31, the beloved nanny passed away.

“Our son Rowan was amazingly unscathed in the incident and based on eyewitness accounts Celi helped save him from almost-certain serious injury or death by pushing his stroller out of harm’s way as the vehicle approached,” the child’s father, Patrick Mullen, claimed as he started a GoFundMe page to help out the nanny’s family.

“I had a chance to look at her cellphone recently and I looked at her pictures and 60% of them were of the child she was caring for. That shows she loved these kids so much,” Rahzel Muschamp said in an interview with The New York Daily News.
