A mother from Virginia has recently been charged with murder and neglect after her little son suffered a cardiac arrest and then died after consuming cannabis-filled candies.
According to sources from local media reports, the child was identified as Tanner Clements who was spotted in an unresponsive state at his home in Spotsylvania in Virginia.
After seeing the child unresponsive, he was rushed by paramedics to a nearby medical facility. But it has been reported that he died just two days later.
Meanwhile, the mother who is also the suspect in the case was named Dorothy Annette Clements. She is believed to have mentioned to the cops how he grabbed a hold of the jar that was filled with the gummies. And when she last saw it, it was empty with only one remaining.
He managed to eat them all and when the empty jar was accessed by the cops who carried out an investigation, it was mentioned how the gummies had really high levels of the chemical substance called THC. And that is what led to the child’s tragic death in the end.
The empty jar was seized in no time and the cops learned that it was her neglect that the jar was put in such low levels of access that any child would be able to grab a hold of it.
On that note, the horrified mother started to justify her stance on the matter. She says that she had zero clue about the gummies containing THC. She only knew about the CBD gummies and didn’t know that the ingredients would have such a hazardous chemicals like THC.
But on October 17, the judge ruled out that she was indeed responsible for the child and that her neglect is the real reason why he died. Hence, she was declared guilty of his murder and the Grand Jury was seen indicting her and she was arrested a few days back.
